Course curriculum

Lessons

Lesson 1: International Business Law

In this lesson, we cover international law from a practical, business perspective. You will acquire skills and knowledge that will serve as the foundation for you to understand how international contracting parties anticipate, prevent, and manage legal disputes.

Lesson 2: Model Sales Contracts

In this lesson, we discuss the most fundamental contract in international trade: the contract for the international sale of goods. This overview of the export sale or purchase agreement is based primarily on the ICC Model International Sale Contract.

Lesson 3: International Dispute Resolution

In this lesson, we discuss why international firms should have dispute-resolution strategies specifically adapted to their international transactions. We will also discuss international litigation, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution (ADR).

Lesson 4: Agency and Distributorship

In this lesson, we explore how exporters can use two of most common forms of distribution to market their goods internationally — agency and distributorship.

Lesson 5: Case studies

In this section, we will take a look at three sample case studies that showcase how simple solutions can remedy problems often seen in this sector.

Do I get a certificate?

This course forms part of the curriculum for the Export/Import Certificate (EIC) but can also be purchased on its own.

If you just complete this course then you will earn a Letter of Completion once you finish (please note there is no exam for this individual course).

However, this course can also be put towards achieving the EIC qualification. More details can be found here.

If you complete the EIC then you will earn a Certificate of Achievement, signed by the ICC Secretary General, once you pass the final exam.

Are there any prerequisites for taking this course?

A strong interest in international trade is recommended and all candidates need to be able to read and write in English.

How long do I have access to the course for?
